FAAN Closes Lagos Airport for 8 Weeks

Temporary Closure of Lagos Airport Runways for Maintenance

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the temporary closure of runways 18R and 36L at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos for maintenance. The closure, which is expected to last for eight weeks, is scheduled from March 13th, 2023 as seen on their tweet.

FAAN has assured that normal airline activities will not be affected, as flight operations will be redirected to taxiway B-18L. However, it’s important to note that during a similar closure in June 2022, airline operators reported significant losses despite FAAN’s assurances.
